David W. Gilbert memoranda and notebooks [microform], 1861-1865.

The diaries were written while he was a member of Company "D", 24th Ohio Cavalry, and Company "B" 2nd Ohio Heavy Artillery. He was stationed in western Virginia (since 1863 the state of West Virginia), Tennessee, and Kentucky. During the interim he worked in and around Emerald, Ohio, and described events in Adams County, Ohio. There is also material that deals with an account of Hope, Rich and Co., and Edwin M. Gregory.
